Coffee and Sustainability: What It Really Means to Buy Responsible Coffee
The traditional coffee market is exposed to stock market price fluctuations (C-Market), which often do not cover the cultivation costs of small producers. In this context, generic "sustainable" labels offer limited guarantees.
A concrete pillar is Direct Trade, the model we apply at Garage Coffee Bros. We pay partner producers up to 3-5 times above the Fairtrade market minimum price: not as charity, but because we buy high quality and support the continuity of a virtuous supply chain.
We also reduce environmental impact by optimizing roasting profiles to contain energy consumption and using recyclable barrier packaging with a valve to limit waste of fresh product.
