 full description

Granja São Francisco (GSF) is located in Carmo de Minas, Minas Gerais in Brazil. It is located in the renowned region of Mantiqueira de Minas (DOC). Granja Sao Francisco was acquired in 1937 by Octaviano Pinto Lopes Riberio, grandfather of the current owner and producer, Otaviano Riberio Ceglia. Ottaviano was a successful entrepreneur in the 1930s and 1940s who had focused on exporting coffee. He recognized the advantages in those years of the potential of the lands in Sul de Minas he offered himself and decided to buy his fazenda. In taking over the fazenda, Otaviano immediately transformed the fazenda by immediately focusing on the rejuvenation of the coffee plantations and planting new varieties. Coffee today is grown between 900 and 1300 meters above sea level, benefiting from the natural composition of the region consisting of mild temperatures, abundance of water, well-distributed rainfall and ideal elevation. In 2008 a coffee from Granja Sao Francisco was ranked 6th in the "Cup of Excellence". In 2011 the coffees finished 5th, 6th and 8th.
